Devil Doll – Dies Irae

The “cursed album”. “Dies Irae” was the last album ever released to the public. The studios where its first recordings took place burned down during the mixes, destroying the early tapes completely. Over a year after the catastrophe, Mr. Doctor is finally persuaded by his label to record the material again, which takes almost one year before it is finally finished. The album features organ recordings undertaken at the Monte Berico Basilica, near Vicenza, Italy, as well as the shiver-inducing haunting voice of the Croatian soprano Norina Radovan. This is the final pressing, dating from Sept. 1999 (after an initial one made out of a “working tape” with a few mixing mistakes) which includes a new piece as well.
